Geneva Wheel
Return to the table
The Geneva converts continuous rotary motion into intermittent rotary
motion. When one of the slots in the driven wheel is obstructed, the device,
then called a Geneva Stop, can be used to limit the number of turns of the
input wheel. In this form, the Geneva was used to limit the wind-up in
clockwork springs.
